Through my sustained investigation, I explored what makes a house a home and the layers that create a home. I dived deeply into the small details within homes, specifically my own, that transform it from merely a building into a place of solace. My work explores the patterns and visual aspects of a home and how they add vibrance to the memories and the everyday life that a home witnesses. By looking at both the people that make a house a home, and the ordinary details that can easily be overlooked or taken for granted, my sustained investigation is an exploration of how a building is transformed into a place of comfort and protection. My portfolio consists of prints, as I have experimented with layering etchings and monotypes throughout my work. Each piece involves multiple layers of etchings, monotypes, and colored pencil. By focusing my work into the exploration of home, I am able to experiment with new ideas of what home is to me, creating pieces that represent the personal aspects of my house and the memories my family has made there.
